Like all other of the "EX" series Speedlites, the Canon Speedlite 270EX Flash is friendly with all EOS camera bodies and many Canon Power shot point and shoot cameras. The small size and light weight of this flash make it especially nice-looking to the latter. The Speedlite 270EX includes a host of new features not available with a built-in flash that push the boundaries for the entry level flash market. These include the addition of a zoom head, guarantees proficient light distribution and bounce flash head, enabling light from the flash to bounce off a ceiling to produce pictures with more flattering lighting with softer tones and depth. Superior circuitry offers near silent recharging and facilitate similar recharging times as its predecessor, despite being powered by just 2 AA batteries. Several features seen first in Canon's other " EX II " flashes are inherited by the 270EX . These include the capability to control flash settings from a compatible camera's menu (including manual flash mode settings), the communication of colour temperature information with a compatible camera (for optimal white balance) and silent charging.
