The RDRHXD790 continues with a total of 34 possible recording settings and a built-in 120GB HDD; making it a superbly flexible recording device. This gives the potential for a useful 340 hours of material to be recorded without the need for a single blank disc! Of course, this Sony DVDR will also record on a wide variety of blank discs including DVD-R Dual Layer (VR and video) and DVD+R Double Layer. Unlike some rivals, the Sony RDRHXD790 will also happily playback DivX and Super VCD discs. Another advantage of the RDRHXD790 is the continual fitment of both analogue and digital tuners. This covers all bases and allows you to record Freeview channels if you can, or analogue if you don't yet have a decent Freeview reception. When it comes to connectivity the Sony recorder is still amongst the best in its class. The HDMI output with 1080p upscaling offers stunning quality and, as a further bonus, is integrated with BRAVIA Sync for one-click system operation. Another great feature is the addition of twin USB ports. These allow for connection of a compatible PictBridge printer, digital camera or other USB media device.
