Drums The life of the imaging drum is dependent on the number of black-only or colour pages that print jobs require. A colour printer imaging drum could last an average of say 20,000 pages when printing black-only pages or less than 5,000 pages when printing colour pages. But an Imaging-drum's life is also affected by calibration as each time the printer calibrates, the imaging drum rotates. The imaging-drum life is measured in terms of number of rotations rather than number of pages printed so if you print single copies the drum rotates four times during the warm up or calibration thus reducing its life by up to 75% So a short print run would reduce the drum life more than a single large run. Print multiple copies at the same time rather than short print runs. From an economy point of view you would also save on electricity.
