What does "Twenga" mean?

Twenga means "straight to the goal" in Swahili (an African dialect).

What is Twenga?

Twenga is a shopping search engine, a price comparison site and a shopping guide. Twenga compiles the largest possible number of offers from online shops all over the world. These offers are listed in our unique search results where, in just a few clicks, you can find the products that you're looking for, compare offers and buy from the shop of your choice. What makes Twenga unique?

Thanks to its unique technology, Twenga thoroughly and automatically catalogues every offer from every online shop. This makes Twenga the most comprehensive and objective shopping search engine on the Net. Twenga gives you the tools to help you find the right product at the best price from the retailer of your choice. You can search for keywords or specific characteristics of the product; browse our large catalogue and shopping guides; benefit from special offers, price reductions and discounts; and read other customers' reviews.

What determines an offer's position in Twenga's database and in search results?

The offers from every online shop listed by Twenga are catalogued completely objectively. They are organised by product category, price, brand and by other details specified by you, the user. When you search for a product, the offers that match your keywords are displayed n order of popularity by default, but you can easily sort your results by relevance and price. In every instance, the search results are based on the criteria of Twenga users, which is why we call it organic listing.

Does Twenga sell any products itself?

No, Twenga doesn't sell anything directly; it redirects its users to online shops where they can purchase products.

How does Twenga make money?

Twenga relies on advertising and business partnerships which give interested companies and retailers greater visibility than that provided by organic listing. Advertisements and sponsored links appear in designated areas, clearly separate from other results. Any commercial link Twenga may have with a merchant does not affect its position in the database nor in the natural search results.

How to use Twenga

How do I search for a product on Twenga?

You can search for a product by entering keywords in the search box such as the product name, brand or model number. You can also browse the product 'universe' which is closest to what you're looking for and then look in the individual categories. Twenga offers you gift ideas, shopping guides and bargains, and shows you the most popular products and product categories.

Why can't I find what I'm looking for?

Make sure your search term is spelled correctly. Spelling errors in keywords is the most common cause of unwanted search results. You can also try using synonyms for your keywords, or browsing the product universe which seems closest to your chosen product. If you still can't find what you're looking for, it's possible that Twenga has not yet catalogued any offers for this product. In this case, we would be grateful if you could let us know by contacting us.

There are too many products in my search results. How can I narrow my search?

On the first page of search results, there are several ways of narrowing your search. You can sort the listed offers by shop, brand, price or even by any special promotions. Depending on the product, you can also filter results by size, material, colour or technical specifications.

What is a Twenga Alert?

A Twenga Alert is a tool that lets you track a specific product, and sends you an email as soon as the price drops.

How do I set up a Twenga Alert ?

It couldn't be simpler! When you've created a Twenga Account, find the product you want to track and click on the link "Create Twenga Alert". If you are in Gallery view, just move your mouse over the image. If you are in List view, select your product by ticking the box to the left of the listing, then click on "Create Twenga Alert".

How do Twenga Alerts work ?

Twenga will send you an email every time the offer of your choice reduces in price. If you don't receive an email from us, that means the price hasn't dropped. Twenga will continue to track prices until you cancel the Twenga Alert, which you can do at any time with just one click.

Why is a product or price listed on Twenga different from the details on the shop's website?

The most common reason for such differences is a delay between a retailer updating its information and Twenga recognising it. If you find a product on Twenga with a different price, photo, or other information from that on the shop's website, we would be grateful if you could let us know by contacting us, mentioning the product and website concerned. We will resolve the problem as soon as possible.

How do I report an error?

Help us to improve Twenga. Click on the link "Report an Error" at the bottom of the page to report any kind of error (price, image, brand...) and your message will automatically link to the page in question. Thank you!

The product is out of stock on the seller's site; why is it still listed on Twenga?

Twenga aims to refresh its site every day so that all listed offers are up-to-date. However, time-lapses do happen: for example, if a product sells out or becomes unavailable just after our site has been updated, this information will not be reflected on Twenga until the following day.

The product is broken/ has not been delivered/ is not what I wanted... what should I do?

Twenga is not a retail site. Twenga redirects you to online shops but does not receive any information about your orders or deliveries. If you would like information about a product or an order you have made, please contact the retailer directly.

Editorial Guidelines for reviews posted on Twenga

Your reviews on products you have purchased, shops you have purchased from and places you have stayed are very helpful for other members of the Twenga community. Thank you for your contribution.

When posting your reviews, please follow these guidelines:

To make your reviews as useful as possible:

  • Be objective and precise regarding both the positive and negative details of your experiences
  • Think about the details you would have liked to have when making your purchase or booking
  • Be polite and keep to the facts - your review will be more credible
  • Share the good experiences you have had, not just the bad
  • Please use the correct formatting and spelling: avoid text message language and writing only in CAPITALS

At all times, avoid:

  • Reviews or views not related to the retailer, product or accommodation on which they are posted
  • Reviews not founded on objective reasons based on your own experiences
  • Reviews by the owners, management, employees or competition of the brand, shop or accommodation
  • Defamatory, offensive or threatening comments
  • Content which is pornographic, racist, which incites violence or which is illegal
  • Self-publicising, marketing or advertising
  • Reviews including email addresses or telephone numbers

Creating and managing my Twenga Account

Do I need to create a Twenga Account to use the site?

Not at all. However, with all the advantages to opening a Twenga Account, it would be a shame to miss out!

How do I create a Twenga Account?

Just click on the link "Create your account" at the top of the page and Twenga will guide you through the registration process.

I tried to create a Twenga Account but the site says my email/username is already in use. What should I do?

Could you have already created a Twenga Account and forgotten about it? If so, go to "Sign in", type in your email address and click on "Forgot your password?" If the username you entered is already in use, you must choose another one. You could, for instance, add a number at the end, like "victor2532".

Why have I not received a confirmation email?

The email address you entered may not be correct. Re-check your email inbox later, and if you still have not received anything from us, try signing into your Twenga Account to check that you have entered the correct email address.

Once my account has been created, how do I sign in whenever I visit the site?

Click on the link "Sign in" at the top of the page. Then type in your username and password to access your account and your Twenga Alerts.

How can I change my password?

To change your password, sign in to your Twenga Account and click on "Edit my profile", then just follow the instructions.

Personal data protection

Twenga treats its users' information with the strictest confidence. In accordance with our Privacy policy, we do not disclose this information to any third parties and do not use it for any means other than improving the services on the Twenga site.
Twenga fights against spam. We encourage users not to include their email address in their username or in the reviews they publish, so as not to make this information visible to spammers or other malicious third parties.
The Twenga server automatically receives and analyses information from Internet browsers such as your IP address, keywords you have entered in the search engine and Web cookie data. Twenga only uses this information to fulfil its goal: to improve the site and its content and meet our users' needs.
